Our New Place...

Thought I would pop in and upload a pic of the new "old" house. This is looking from the south. The smaller building is the gazebo that houses the hot tub. In a future effort, the gazebo will become a bathroom.

Today is Christmas and much going's on took place, but I'm too tired to go into all the fun right now. Will post more later.

Have a good one!

A New STATE of Living...

It’s been quite a while since my last posting. Since, we have sold our home in Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma. We sold out at a fair price and managed to buy twice the home for a fair price. The catch is that our new home is in need of a bit of work, but we feel up to the challenge.

Last month I received a frantic call from my sister-in-law. My niece had been in a horrible one car accident and they were waiting her arrival at the hospital. Samuel and me hopped in the van and made the trip to stand guard with and pray for a good outcome. As things turned out, her injuries were very bad and she didn’t make it. It was a very sad time for me, and quite a sobering experience for Sam. The whole family took it bad and still is. Brittaney will be missed for a very long time.

The family is healing and things are moving forward. Dab (Britt’s dad) just received his Bachelor’s Degree and is going for a Master’s. Mama is doing ok other than having her hot water heater go out. Denise and Kent are looking at moving as their landlord/person they were buying their house from is screwing them around, but on a good note, Kent has got a couple of good jobs. Dian and Billy are doing fine and seem happy. We always enjoy them because they are genuine. Donna and Kimmie are sharing a house and they seem to be doing well also.

We’ve been working on the house as best we can. Have installed a spiral staircase and are getting ready to build an addition onto the house to enclose it. We’ve redone the bathroom with some extensive work on the walls. Lot’s of prep work and texturing with plaster, painting, and now it looks great. We removed a wall between the living room and kitchen and it worked remarkably well in opening the upstairs area.

When we enclose the stairs, we are going to incorporate a pantry and sitting area off the dining area, but also a dumb-waiter between the floors. The downstairs will have a bathroom added in the lower area. When this is done, we are going to remove the existing interior stairs, which will add some 160 sq. ft. of living space. When this is done we will move on to the kitchen and work on building new cabinets and an island. Finally we will install the new bamboo floors (incredible deal) and most of the upstairs will be done and then we’ll move on renovating the downstairs. I’ll try to get some pics posted as progress is made.

Enough for now.
